Good Evening, Afternoon....Morning. My name's Plaro. I'm 23 and live in NYC. I'm an ambidextrous cook, meaning i'll cook just about anything. I have an unhealthy affinity with cats and I really dig mellow yet upbeat music (like Belle and Sebastian and The Shins). Other things I dig? My fantabulous friends >:D, Sitcoms, Videogames, Winning Prizes on the Claw Machine, Disney Movies, Tattoos, Peeing after holding it in for a really long time, (unintentionally ofcourse) ...there are a lot more things on that list, though I feel that this is good enough for now. Feel free to tell me what you guys dig.

Did you know that pregnant women have been fired for using the bathroom to vomit, needing to carry a water bottle on the job, or asking to sit on a stool instead of standing in place all day? While employers have to make allowances like these for other types of temporary disabilities, a number of bad court decisions have encouraged them to feel they can get away with firing or mistreating pregnant workers with impunity.
It’s disgraceful and unacceptable that at a time when unnecessary budget cuts are decimating food, medical, and educational supports for low-income families, pregnant women continue to be pushed out of their jobs just as they take on all the expenses of having a new baby.
Read more about the Pregnant Workers Fairness Actand take action by contacting your congressperson.

This is unacceptable. Pregnant workers need more protection. With a child coming up they need employment more than ever. Please contact your rep.

Hipster Racism Runoff And The Search for The Black Costanza by Cord Jefferson @ Gawker

When they look at us, they see strangers.

(via darkdarkgirlvashti)

I was trying to find this quote recently. I don’t think most white people understand how it feels to be thought of as only as a dehumanized stereotype or a token. Never as someone like you who can be relatable and have things in common with you. It’s always a surprise to people online and offline when people find out that I like things that they do, too ; that I’m not just some angry activism-obsessed woman. When people like Lena Dunham  say they don’t know how to write Black people, it’s pretty much saying that she doesn’t think that Black people are also fully complex human beings like her. Sure, there are cultural considerations to be made, but it’s ignoring the fact that people of color are diverse and not a monolith, so it’s not like the only girls who are like her are white.

I first saw this like a week ago and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.
